South Pond Stormwater Management
The southern pond was an actual pond with open water just a few years ago. The pond is a natural filtration system taking nitrogen, animal waste, oils, and other pollutants out of the water before entering Allen's Creek. This end of the part is more natural and being restored. There is a weir at the east end of the bog/pond that keeps the water level high enough to support plant life as well as turtles, gopher tortoises, marsh rabbits and birds. This section of the park has been fully restored with 100% native plants.
