Trails and Wildlife
Walking the trails in the park is a wonderful way to get close to wildlife particularly the birds including blue jays, cardinals, brown thrashers, red wing blackbirds and a variety of water birds. The trail meanders through woods, open grassland and around the lake and ponds. There are wooden bridges over streams running out of the lakes and ponds. Signs on the overlooks point out the diverse plant life and birds. There are oak tress and longleaf pines. Some non-native species are on the route as well.
I will try to post more pictures and capture a few shots of the birds. A nice description of the hike, which can easily cover three miles is presented at this site.
